Nonprofit Spotlight: Catholic Outreach Soup Kitchen

As this time of year rolls around, people are more aware of those less fortunate with little food and places to lay their heads. Grand Valley Catholic Outreach has a Soup Kitchen that serves up to 300 people a day and is run completely by volunteers. In 2016, the Soup Kitchen served a total of 71,639 meals. The meal is served at noon 6 days a week and is a balanced, healthful meal.

There are a few ways to get involved in the soup kitchen. You can volunteer your time which not only allows you to serve others, but also connects you with people you may otherwise not ever meet or you can bring donations Monday through Friday 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. The soup kitchen accepts can and packaged goods (unopened, un-dented, current date), fresh and frozen fruits, vegetables, and meats, as well as produce from “backyard” farmers, orchard growers, commercial farmers, and grocery markets.

If you have any other questions you can contact them at (970) 243-009 or check out their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/gvcatholicoutreach.
