The 3 Types of Inspections for your New-Construction

Are you building your first home? You may not know, but there are actually three types of inspections that you will need to get done: pre-drywall, final, and one-year warranty.

1. Pre Dry-Wall Inspection

The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) has a Standard Of Practice for the pre dry-wall inspection which consists of what’s included, what isn’t, what gets reported on, described, etc. This type of inspection happens after the floor, wall and roof structure have been installed, the foundation part, the plumbing and electrical, and the windows and exterior doors.

2. Final Inspection

This is the standard home inspection and the most important one. If you have to choose just one inspection, this is the one you should choose.

3.One-year warranty inspection

This varies from state to state, but is done before the home is a year old and looks for defects caused by faulty workmanship and defective materials.
