3 Tips for Decorating Your Home on a Budget

Moving in to your first home is such a fun experience that you immediately want to get to decorating it, until you realize how much a sofa, paint, and coffee table costs. Here are some resources for all you first time homebuyers in Grand Junction looking to furnish your home on a budget.

1. Go to secondhand stores

Yard sales and thrift shops have a ton of great items for very low costs. Does it have a desk with nice bones but not your style? Throw some white paint on it and turn your office into a modern, farmhouse space!

2. Use independent retailers

You may be able to find what you need at a big retailer, but if you do a little bit of searching for a retailer that specializes in that furniture item you may be pleasantly surprised at their prices and quality. An example is Well Woven. This company creates quality rugs in Turkey and has a low overhead by sourcing and designing in house and not doing much advertising. They also were founded with a humanitarian and environmental mission by having a factory which is committed to ethical conduct both socially and environmentally. We're convinced, sign us up!

3. Shop locally

This one kind of goes along with our last point. It is true that Amazon has some amazing deals on furniture, but local family-owned and operated furniture store—especially an outlet store are able to offer discounts on clearance items and you get the perks (like next day delivery) that are only available if shopping nearby.
