June Featured Nonprofit - STRiVE

This month's featured Grand Junction nonprofit is STRiVE! STRiVE is a "private, non-profit organization authorized by the State of Colorado to provide community-based services and supports to individuals with disabilities and their families." STRiVE has been in Mesa County for over 50 years and has a multitude of services that support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Here is a breakdown of some of their services!

Infant/Toddler Early Intervention Services

If you have a child or know of a child ages 0-3 who has developmental delays or disabilities, this may be a great program for them! The services that they provide are assessed based on the child's development and are done in natural learning environments such as the family home, playgrounds, or other community settings.

Residential & Supported Living Services

In the residential program they residents live in communities with arrangements catered to their specific needs. The SLS program is for people who are 18 and older and are living in their own home or with family and are services that promote independence, integration and productivity!

Audyssey Autism Services

Did you know that 1 in 88 children are born with autism? Unfortunately there are not many resources in Mesa County. Thankfully STRiVE has stepped in and helps with the Infant and Toddler Early Intervention Program we mentioned earlier, as well as adults with autism who are on the intellectual deficit side of the spectrum where they learn skills of independence, job/career development, social skills, and more.

Uniquely Yours – Specialty Retail

Uniquely Yours is a shop located on Main Street (443 Main St) with locally handmade products and gifts created by people with disabilities as well as imports imported from fair trade importer Ten Thousand Villages. They also provide job training and employment for those in our community with disabilities!

There are so many other amazing services within STRiVE that we didn't feature! If you are looking to get in contact with this amazing organization check them out at strivecolorado.org!
