Featured September New Business!
September's featured small business is the new The Hog and The Hen. They just opened on September 1st in downtown Grand Junction and are a market, deli and liquor store. They source local spring mix for their deli sandwiches and salads, and also carry the full line of Mythology Distillery spirits from Colorado. We love that they try to stay local with their goods!
Cooper and Mary Hall were tossing around ideas of what type of business venture they wanted to start in December of last year and around the same time City Market closed and they knew their idea of a market would be a great one!
The name was created by Mary's uncle. It refers to an old folklore that sailors would get a pig and chicken tattooed on their feet. This represented protection against growing and never starving. The couple thought it was a neat idea and ran with it!
